How It All Started

August 27th, 2025. TJ25 officially began with the Matriculation Ceremony. With acceptance confirmed, hopes were high, and so was the collective hunger after the long ceremony.

Three months later, final projects have concluded. A two-month dormant phase begins. We disconnect until we are called back again.

Each of us has used this time differently. Every minute spent socializing, studying, learning languages, building skills, or reflecting has contributed, in some way, to your growth at Taejae University.

This article focuses on several keynote individuals and spaces that shaped TJ25’s first semester. Through their experiences and insights, this piece aims to revisit memories, regrets, reminders, resolutions, and new perspectives.

While some students fully immersed themselves within Taejae, others used it as a launching pad. Taehun, a third-cohort student, represents the latter. He is an independent explorer who has already begun stepping beyond Taejae and acting on his own interests.

Taehun has served as a facilitator for TJ25’s robotics group, aiming to compete in the 2026 RoboCup Incheon competition. As the first robotics team at Taejae, this effort marks both TJ25’s first robotics initiative and a meaningful starting point for future cohorts.

“I had a similar robotics experience back in high school. Back then, I referenced university-based research and development to build my projects,” Taehun explained.

Drawing from that background, he began shaping the robotics program during the Preparatorium session, recruiting students both within and outside the university.

“Development is slow but sure. We have created the fundamental movement models and monitoring parts. The consistency itself is hopeful.” He also hopes this early stage becomes a trial-and-error foundation for those who follow.

Taehun’s long-term mindset and steady dedication are simple but effective.

“Wherever I go, I will do what I want to do.”

How does one become more sociable at TJ25? One possible answer is Local Stitch B1, especially between 19:00 and 24:00. On a typical night, seven to twelve students gather (a number tracked through a week of observation). They sit on desks and sofas, studying, chatting, waiting for friends, or simply passing time.

This space enables layered social interaction. Academic feedback, extracurricular planning, and casual bonding coexist naturally.

Hyeonu and Unbin are among B1’s most frequent visitors. Their shared motivation was simple. They wanted to avoid boredom.

“I felt trapped, so I came down. I normally talk a lot,” Unbin explained. “The conversations are fun but effort inducing. Most of it is bantering and all over the place.” She emphasized that she was not aiming to commit to one group. Instead, she explored broadly, sharing meals with the Cooking Club, joining the futsal event, and participating in many other activities.

“I get to form relationships. When we study at B1, we synergize and feed off each other.”

Hyeonu described B1 as a balance point. It was a place to study without the temptation of his bed. It was a place to exchange perspectives. It was also a space for leisure and spontaneous interaction.

“Jihoo just crashed into the headlight ceiling five minutes ago. It’s fun at B1.”
